Between 10-13 April 2023, the “Smart Diaspora 2023” conference took place in Timișoara, an event under the High Patronage of the President of Romania and the auspices of the Romanian Government, carried out by the Timișoara University Alliance, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization, UEFISCDI and the Romanian Academy. During the conference, 38 exploratory workshops took place and brought together over 1,000 participants from the country and abroad.
The appointment of Timisoara as the host of the “Smart Diaspora 2023” Conference is not a surprise, but a reconfirmation. If in the case of the first status, as the European Capital of Culture, Timișoara highlights its cultural richness and diversity, of a European nature, contributing to urban development and regeneration, in the second scenario it facilitates the strengthening of relations with scientists from abroad, the recovery the Romanian intellectual capital and its catalysis in the direction of projects and a common country vision.
