On 28.09.2020, at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara took place the opening conference of the project “CloudPUTing – High Performance Cloud Platform at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara”, which has as main objective the creation of a heterogeneous HPC cloud node dedicated to projects research, as well as to support teaching activities.
The main goal of the project is to increase the research and innovation capacity of UPT, in order to raise the level of competitiveness and scientific visibility of the institution nationally and internationally and improve the technology transfer capacity for research results, by creating a cloud node based on open technologies, connected to national and international networks of cloud research infrastructure.
From the new structure will benefit all teachers, UPT researchers and doctoral students, UPT public / private research partners, high school students, UPT graduates and students with an entrepreneurial spirit who want to launch a product and need infrastructure services for the solutions they develop.
The project involves the arrangement of a dedicated dataroom space, inside UPT, with an area of 80 sqm, of which 50 sqm will be dedicated only to servers, internet infrastructure of at least 3 Gbps, ventilation system, cooling and humidity control, surveillance video, access control, burglar alarm system, and so on.
