Romania shone once again at Web Summit Lisbon 2025, held November 10-13, one of Europe’s biggest tech conferences. The event gathered thousands of startups, investors, global tech companies, and industry leaders, offering a dynamic platform to explore innovation, emerging technologies, and the future of business and society.
This year’s Web Summit set a new record, attracting 71,386 participants from 157 countries and 1,857 investors, the largest investor turnout in the event’s history. Over three days, 2,725 startups from 108 countries showcased cutting-edge innovations, with AI and machine learning leading the way, alongside SaaS, healthtech, fintech, wellness, and sustainability solutions.
With more than 268 government delegations, Web Summit has become a hub for discussions and partnerships shaping the next decade. This year, 869 speakers joined 1,519 publishers, executives, and journalists on stage to explore the future of technology.
Known as the “Davos for geeks“, Web Summit goes beyond traditional conferences, featuring tech talks, masterclasses, mentorship sessions, startup pitch competitions, exhibition zones, and social events like “Night Summit“. For startups, it’s a prime opportunity to gain visibility and connect with investors, while established companies use the platform to gather insights and build global partnerships.
For the third time, ARIES-TM, in partnership with ARICE, showcased Romania’s national pavilion under the Romania IT brand. Eleven innovative Romanian companies, ActionPoint, .lumen, Ialoc, Irisphera, Isoskills Group, Legal Hunt (LH Consultancy), Lineo Engineering (Lineo Product Development), Mejix, Roweb Development, Seedblink și 7code (Seven Code Development), presented their cutting-edge tech solutions to a global audience.
Visitors to Romania’s national pavilion experienced a diverse array of innovations, from smart glasses for the blind and a virtual outfit assistant, to AI-powered conversation recording, restaurant booking platforms, investor tools, digitalization solutions for multiple industries, and advanced engineering for electronics and software.
A standout moment was a networking event organized with the Romanian Embassy in Portugal, bringing together Romanian companies and local industry partners to explore new opportunities for international collaboration.
The highlight of Romania’s presence was Irisphera being chosen for the prestigious PITCH Startup competition, a standout achievement among hundreds of international startups.
